Who is your hero?

In my early year of employment, I have several great bosses that I look up to and learn a lot from them… One of them is Benny Villa Nueva, a bright and funny one.

One day out of nothing he said… Answer my three question he said:

  1. Who is your hero? After a few second thinking, I said… “Karna…!“.
  2. Why…?  Well… he is loyal to his belief, He is a good man but he is not perfect because he also a bad guy or in a bad side.
  3. Is that what you want to be and why you can not be like him now ? Sort of and I am trying to…. I replied. Good One he said…

Curiously, I asked : Why you asked me that…? Someone is asking me the same question. So what is your answer… He smiled and said.. “Gandhi” And its very hard to answer  the third questions..  Aha ha ha…

So now I now share the three questions to all of you, have a very nice day everyone…

Risk Free life…

You can actually have a risk free life if you want to,  here is how to:

  1. Do your daily job, go to the office at 8.30 and go home at 5.00 PM
  2. Try to work harder and more productive than yesterday
  3. Do something that every body does, the more person doing it the saver it would be
  4. Go with your usual crowd, its fun because you know their joke and they know yours
  5. Order the same food you already know, unless someone you know is suggesting something else
  6. Go to Bali, Bandung or Singapore for special vacation
  7. Never questioning your boss decision
  8. Have (crazy) ideas..? Don’t tell it to anyone.
  9. Have (crazy) ideas…? Do not bother to do it, its gonna fail anyway
  10. Believe what other say about you
  11. Ask inputs from everyone and try to compromise before making decision

Have a happy risk free life, and why don’t you add some more here..

When E-mail Failed you..

Just today, I have a simple  idea about how  to develop and grow some of our  employees,  very excited I immediately send an email to other directors about the idea. Sure enough some will agree and some not. I can’t get it, how can they do not agree such simple, no additional cost to retain employee.

I realize my mistake and go (instead of replying their e-mail) to directors who are not agree with the idea, after few word of discussion they can see the merit of the idea and finally support it.

If I were talking to them first about the idea, there is probably no need to explain it and re-explain it again . E-mail is such a bad communication tool for this kind of thing although it might seems very simple in the beginning. A  case in point where you should meet others in person, in this case E-mail won’t do any good for you..

2010 First Working Day

Tomorrow is the first working day in 2010…  I am sure the first working day is not really “working day” as most of us still in the holiday mood. OK ok.. some us may already be in their top gear catching up their schedule or deadline.

What I propose for tomorrow, (if you have relatively relaxed time) is planning a head what will we do in 2010, since we are thinking about working related ideas, it is qualified as working, so do not feel guilty taking time to do this.

Start challenging status-quo in our company (certainly with you as the driver / leader).  Don’t let this year be a “business as usual”.  We can ask ourself :

  • How to make things faster
  • How to make things cheaper
  • How to make things more efficient
  • etc etc etc

The list can go forever, the idea is to plan something different, something creative (or radical if need to) for the better of you, your colleagues and certainly your company.

Cross that bridge…!

In front of my office there is one bridge connecting from one side of the road to the other side… it used to be famous among “bule”, as sometime  a group of people will rob people  in that bridge even in broad day light.

Any guest (company senior leader) who stays in the hotel have two options: crossing the bridge and arrive to the office much faster, or using another way and take much-much longer time.  Most of them will cross the bridge anyway, knowing that it quite dangerous. Among many leaders who use that bridge, one actually  get robbed, but he already prepared, he give few dollar that he prepared just in case. Laptop and Cellphone is safely delivered by his driver who use the other road.

I think that kind of quality is something the any leader need to have… Know the risk, prepare for it, and take the risk for a better result. So cross that bridge… take some risk for the better, but be prepared just in case.

Luna maya VS Infotainment whos side are you on…?

Me..? definitely Luna Maya… :)

I do not want to talk about what happened.. just Google : “Lunamaya vs Infotainment”. To cut the story short, Luna Maya wrote in her twitter account

Infotemnt derajatnya lebh HINA dr pd PELACUR, PEMBUNUH!!!! may ur soul burn in hell!!…

I am sure she is frustrated with all the things… so she dump off the chest her frustration by writing this in her twitter account. Certainly some will agree to that and some (mostly the infotainment worker)  want to go to court.

What to do then…

If you do not want to deal with Infotainment worker, consistently say “no comment” just like Dessy Ratnasari I think is the best way to shoo them off.  And she still exist till now…

When things get messy like Nicky Astria which the infotainment worker block her car, Firing a gun like Parto is very effective too, but surely I am not recommend it.  BTW Parto  still very much exist in the entertainment business.

So if one say that your career will be ended if  infotainment worker boycotting you, don’t believe them, it  is pretty much a myth or urban legend.  Gossip program / channel is not the best way to project your image anyway.
